Weekend Videos: Fighting Bill 37

4/5/2014

The Nova Scotia Liberals have passed Bill 37, cutting labour out from the knees, and attacking a healthcare workforce of mainly women in a province recently rocked by a string of incidents exposing how deeply sexism is rooted in our institutions and our daily lives.

In the first video, nurses speak out about how Bill 37 and the Nova Scotia Liberals are exploiting their goodwill and work, while the governments refuses to address the gaps and weaknesses in our public healthcare system.

In the second video, labour lawyer Ray Larkin gives testimony at the legislature in Halifax against Bill 37, explaining “What this bill is doing is permanently removing a fundamental right…An employer that does not have to make concessions is not going to make concessions.”
