Weekend Video: Remembering General Baker

5/24/2014

P10_01On May 18 the longtime Detroit union activist, General Baker passed. He was one of the first to openly oppose the the draft during the Vietnam war. Baker was also one of the key organizers and founders of both the Dodge Revolutionary Union Movement in 1968 and the League of Revolutionary Black Workers in 1969.

The league brought together various revolutionary union movements that had organized in the auto sector and other industries in the late 1960s. We at RankandFile.ca have posted two videos. The first is a classic, Finally Got the News, which is a documentary about the League of Revolutionary Black Workers. The second is a recent interview with General Baker talking about the connections between organizing in the auto sector and the mining sector.
