RankandFile.ca is starting a book club. The first book we are reading is Teamster Rebellion by Farrell Dobbs. This book examines the 1934 Teamster strike wave in Minneapolis from the perspective of a union activist. This labour battle was one of the high points of the 1930s union movement in the United States.
If you are interested in particpating in our book club email us at editors@rankandfile.ca. We have put together this Teamster Rebellion reading guide to help you get started. Just click here to download the reading guide.
In the spirit of both promoting this book and looking at and learning from our own union history we present two documentaries looking at the 1934 Minneapolis Teamsters strike. The first (in two parts) is a 1981 documentary entitled 1934 Minneapolis Truckers Strike. It was originally produced for a local Minneapolis TV station. The second is a shorter documentary, Minneapolis Truckers Make History.
