On September 24, residents of Kanata, a suburb of Ottawa, gathered at a local sports bar to talk about the pending loss of door-to-door mail delivery to nearly 8,000 neighbourhood homes.
The meeting featured speeches by:
- Trevor Haché, a resident of Kanata losing home mail delivery
- Geoff Bickerton, Research Director of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers
- Nadia Willard, member of ACORN Ottawa
The meeting was introduced by Kevin Skerrett, a member of the host organization: the Coalition for an Accessible Public Postal Service, a new Ottawa-based campaign group composed of labour and student unions, seniors groups and community organizations.
