Following our weekly labour news update, we play a talk delivered by Dan Coffman, president of ILWU local 21 in Longview, Washington, about the lengthy and defiant struggle of longshore workers against attempts to introduce non-union work at the port. The talk was delivered in Chicago on June 29 at the annual Socialism Conference hosted by the Centre for Economic Research and Social Change, the folks behind the excellent Haymarket Books. The original version of the talk can be found at the website wearemany.org which hosts audio and video from the conference. For more on the Longview struggle, check out this interview with Coffman.
